
Trazana Alecia Staples is a Cincinnati, Ohio-based community advocate, nonprofit founder, author, songwriter, and ecopreneur.
She is a native of Cincinnati and holds a Master of Environmental Law and Policy degree from Vermont Law School, a Bachelor of Science in Management and Human Relations from Trevecca Nazarene University, and an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Xavier University. She is also an alumna of Class 31 of the Neighborhood Leadership Institute Cleveland.
On October 3, 2017, she survived a massive cryptogenic stroke accompanied by aphasia, which she attributes to life stress. Due to the stroke, she lost her material possessions and was unable to continue employment.
In 2019, she founded the Trazana A. Staples Alternative Stroke Recovery Fund (now the Trazana A.Staples Foundation), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers stroke survivors and caregivers through education and resources centered on complementary and alternative medicine, healthy foods, and healthy living.
The foundation collaborates with organizations like the DL Online Essentials, Avondale Community Council, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, The Heights Movement, and the Powell Crosley Jr. YMCA and Cincinnati African American Fire Fighters (CAFA), with funding from sources such as the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, The City of Cincinnati Human Services Fund, and Hamilton County Ohio Inspire Grant.
The foundation runs the Intergenerational Wellness Partners (IWP) Workshop Series and IWP Youth Symposium, providing free workshops for youth, adults, and families (ages 5 to 99+) in Cincinnati, Ohio with relationships connections and partners such as, Apex Chiropractic Wellness Center, Caldwell Family Wellness, Cincy Black Travel Guide, Natural Woman Magazine , AZ Media, RefleXion Massage, EYE AM SHE, Goldenway Healing, and Imhotep Wellness Center.
These programs cover integrative practices such as yoga, tai chi, meditation, acupuncture, art and music therapy, and therapeutic gardening.
In short, she is a well-known community figure in Cincinnati who turned her personal health crisis into a mission to serve underserved communities.
